Forthcoming Activities

Over the next 5 weeks the new coarse screens are to be installed along with the associated screw conveyors and access structures.
The temporary screens installed in the lamellas are to be removed this week.
After alteration and refurbishment at Adams they will be returned to site and installed in the existing FFT chambers to screen FFT flows.
On the east side of the inlet works a tarmac hardstanding area will be constructed to allow the delivery and removal of screenings skips to the new megawasher area.

Current Activities

Four storm fine screens have been installed with their associated penstocks and these are currently being commissioned. Work is nearly complete on the removal of the concrete walls in the existing storm flow channel. The removal of these walls connects the new screen lanes to the existing inlet works and will allow the storm fine screens to be wet commissioned in the next 2-3 weeks. In the last month the existing FFT screens have been dismantled and removed, as has one old storm screen. The current activities are taking place in the old storm channel where another fine storm screen is to be installed. New concrete walls are under construction to narrow the channel to a suitable width for the new screen to be installed.

Hull WwTW Inlet Works Upgrade PEP

PROJECT BRIEF:
The project involves the construction of an extension to the existing inlet works on piled foundations, installation of new screens and associated equipment, installation of megawashers and associated equipment and construction of an additional works by-pass including connection into the existing works outfall culvert.

Scheme Details
The existing reinforced concrete structure has been extended sideways to the east and west. This has created more channels for the additional screens. A bypass channel has also been built to the west of the structure. Four coarse screens are to be installed on the upstream end of the inlet works. Two 6mm fine screens will deal with FFT, with 5 additional 6mm screens for storm flows. Launders and screw conveyors to six new magawasher units will convey the screenings, with screenings being discharged via compactors to skips. It is anticipated that the scheme will be complete in January 2008, however due to the phased nature of the works some benefits in plant operation should be seen from the autumn.
